Help Us Help Others

Pre-selecting your appliances before that day, then making an appointment for the morning of Friday November 26^th will ensure you have time to make a smart selection AND get the maximum discounts!

-Do I have to buy an individual product or a whole appliance package?

The Sherman's gift cards are valid for any item $500 and up. The Up To $1,000 GE Profile Pre-Paid Visa Rebates (doubled for up to $2,000!) are valid on 2-4 piece GE Profile Kitchen Packages.

-What models are eligible for the $1000 GE rebates (doubled to up to $2,000)?

-How many appliances do I need to purchase for the package rebates?

2-4 piece packages are eligible for this rebate.

-Can I come in the morning of November 26th to pick out my new appliances?

Due to the monumental success of this rebate program in the past, all Sherman’s stores will be operating by appointment only on November 26^th. However, please feel free to come in and work with one of our appliance experts anytime before November 26th to pick out the appliances that fit your needs. If that is the only morning you’ll be able to visit, please expect a wait.

-Do I get all the money off at the time of sale or do I have to send away for it?

You will receive the Sherman's gift cards at the time of sale. The $1,000-$2,000 rebates are mail-in forms. You should receive the Pre-paid Visa card in the amount you qualify for within 4-8 weeks.

-How long do I have on Friday the 26th to come in?

The Sherman's double gift cards are from 6am - 10am only, however we will have $100 gift cards for every item $500 and up all day long. The package rebates are good until 11/29.

-When can I use the Sherman's Gift Cards?

The Sherman's gift cards are valid as of 12/26 and they have no expiration date. Also, on redemption, only one gift card may be used per item.

See how HDTV’s work on the INSIDE!

Now you can see firsthand how different HDTV technologies produce their pictures, with Sherman’s in-store HDTV cutaway displays. We’ve taken the three main LCD/LED types: CCFL LCD, Edge-Lit LED, and Backlit LED and cut away many of the inside layers, then put them back together again. You can see them running in our stores. On half you’ll see the regular picture they display, and on the other half you’ll see how the inner workings are producing that picture. We also have a Plasma as part of the display. Since you can’t cut out part of a Plasma panel, we’ve created a visual representation of the plasma cell structure. Pre-selecting your appliances before that day, then making an appointment for the morning of Friday September the 24^th will ensure you have time to make a smart selection AND get the maximum discounts!

-Do I have to buy an individual product or a whole appliance package? The State’s 15% Off Offer is valid on ANY individual item (Clothes Washer, Refrigerator, Dishwasher, or Freezer) that is Energy Star Qualified. The Up To $1,000 GE Profile Pre-Paid Visa Rebates (doubled for up to $2,000!) are valid on 2-4 piece GE Profile Kitchen Packages.

-Do I have to be replacing an old product to qualify for the 15% off? Yes. Rebates are only available to consumers who replace an existing, likely less efficient, appliance with a new, Energy Star qualified unit. Friday April 16^th was the busiest day in Sherman’s history! Taking advantage of state incentives, you bought over 1,000 new energy efficient appliances that day from Sherman’s! Thanks to everyone for their patience; we had extra help, but there were still some long waits. We’ll appreciate your continued patience as we deliver all those new products and recycling the old ones. While everyone will be working a lot of overtime, it will take several weeks to accomplish, but we’ll get it done as quickly as possible. A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped us make this day, and the state’s E-Star program, a success!

From Delivery Driver to Delivery Manager

James Richardson, a Sherman's delivery driver for the past 2 1/2 years was recently promoted to the position Delivery Manager. After receiving the promotion James noted that his favorite part of being out on the delivery truck every day is getting to see the happiness on our customers faces when they receive their new merchandise. He also stated that he will miss being out on the road every day but he is looking forward to learning and growing in his new position. Outside of work James enjoys baseball and is a member of the Sherman's softball team. Congratulations, James!

Last week Shirley of Washington, IL won a $500 Sherman’s Gift Card just for sending in our survey letting us know how we did during her recent purchase. Each month we select a returned survey randomly, and send that customer the $500 gift card.

We hand out one of these surveys after each delivery, and we learn a lot from the feedback we get. Our best delivery crews and sales team members get recognized, and anything that isn’t going right can immediately be corrected.

I know some companies do surveys and ignore the results; but at Sherman’s, we take them very seriously. We want to be absolutely sure we are meeting your expectations for professional delivery, attentive sales help, etc. You might say it’s a matter of family pride. Saturday and Sunday were filled with industry updates and strategy planning sessions among the dealer members. On Monday and Tuesday we met and negotiated with our manufacturers. Peoria Chamber After Hours

A big THANK YOU to the hundreds of area Chamber members, builders and realtors who attended Thursday night’s “Business After Hours” at our Peoria store. We were a bit overwhelmed by the attendance; over 500 people stopped by! Everyone had a chance to visit our new distribution center, our appliance and furniture departments, and to hear about our HomeWorks home control and music systems. And, of course, eat the great food provided by One World and visit with friends and associates. Everyone on our staff was thrilled to spend time with so many of you, and we’d like to thank the folks at the Chamber for allowing us to host this great event.

A Big System for the Big Game

While watching the Super Bowl last year at our home, it struck me what an incredibly different experience it can be depending on your TV and sound system. Most of us were watching the game on my 65” HDTV with a powerful surround sound system. At the other end of our basement, a few friends were sitting at our bar watching the game on an older regular TV. As I moved back and forth, it became clear the guys at the bar were only getting about 20% of the experience; the TV wasn’t even widescreen, so they were literally missing much of the picture. You didn’t hear the hits and couldn’t see the details of the action on the regular TV. On the HDTV with the sound system, you were literally right in the middle of the game! It reminded me that if you want to experience things like the Super Bowl the way they’re meant to be seen, you need both a great HDTV and a Dolby Digital surround sound system. An Exciting CES Show

This week we visited the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where manufacturers showcase their most exciting new technologies. LG’s new Infinia LCD TV’s look incredible; these 480Hz local-dimming LED HDTV’s set a new standard. Another exciting new HDTV from LG is their new TXH-certified TruBlack plasma; they use technology similar to the award-winning Pioneer Kuro panels, at a fraction of the cost. And Samsung and Sony showcased extensive lines of 3D HDTV’s. With 3D Blu-Ray coming available this year, and providers like DirecTV offering dedicated 3-D channels, it’s clear 3D for the home will be a practical alternative in 2010. Samsung LED HDTV’s now at Sherman’s

A lot has changed recently in HDTV's. The latest technology is LED; which just a few months ago was incredibly expensive. But recent price moves by Samsung and LG have made this new technology relatively affordable. All LCD TV's have a Liquid Crystal panel that lets light through to create the image. Traditional LCD sets are backlit by a continuous brightness source, similar to fluorescent light bulbs. The new LED backlit sets have a brighter backlight that is capable of varying the brightness, so the whites can be brighter, and the blacks blacker (a traditional weakness of LCD). Plus, the LED backlight is tremendously thin; making possible stunning styling like Samsung's new models. Delivery is one of the most important services Sherman's provides. After all, what good are knowledgeable salespeople & great service if the delivery crew doesn't show up when expected or treat your home right? At Sherman's we're constantly working to improve our delivery service. We start with an experienced team of warehouse professionals, who understand how important it is to treat the merchandise with care, and thoroughly inspect and prepare every customer order. Then our professional delivery crews take over. They are all participants in our "Delivering it Right" program, where they track their performance on the three most important aspects of delivery: (1) installing the items in the home with no damage, (2) accurate paperwork and customer review, and (3) everything loaded accurately on the truck. Any issues are covered in a weekly meeting, where everyone has the opportunity to suggest improvements in our procedures or get training on new products and techniques.
